Before you choose
Start with your travel priorities
Write down the one thing you most want from the day. Consider your available time, preferred pace and the needs of everyone travelling. A shorter, simpler itinerary may suit you better than a tour with more stops.
Compare like with like
Check whether the price is per person or per group, and whether the tour is private or shared. Compare the same date, group size and option. A listing may contain several options with different inclusions.
Before you pay
Check the complete schedule
Confirm pickup time, the meeting point, travel time, time at each stop and the expected return. Ask whether your hotel is covered and whether there is an extra transfer charge.
Separate included costs from optional costs
Look for entry tickets, meals, drinks, equipment, transport and upgrades. If an inclusion is unclear, ask the operator rather than assuming it is part of the advertised price.
Check practical suitability
Ask about walking distance, steps, uneven surfaces, boarding arrangements and access to toilets. Explain any access requirements before booking and ask for specific details about the vehicle, route and facilities.
Read the cancellation rules
Check the cancellation deadline, the applicable time zone, change conditions and what happens if weather or the operator changes the plan. Keep the confirmation and the version of the terms supplied with your booking.
Before the day
Recheck the meeting instructions and contact details. Save the voucher and make a note of the provider’s contact number. Follow the provider’s instructions for clothing, equipment and documents. For entry rules and other time-sensitive requirements, use the relevant official source and recheck close to departure.
